Ashley Qualls
Ashley Qualls , known by most as “Ashbo”, jumped online as a young teenager and a short while later at 14 started a little site she named Whateverlife basically as a hobby. She started out designing Websites for other teenage girls for free and her income from advertisements started to mushroom as her traffic

continued to increase. She continued plowing ahead and at last check her site is visited by over 200,000 girls each day and she was earning $70,000 a month. And these numbers are probably outdated.
An article in Fast Company last Fall had this blurb about Ashbo’s site:
According to Google Analytics, Whateverlife attracts more than 7 million individuals and 60 million page views a month. That’s a larger audience than the circulations of Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and CosmoGirl! magazines combined.
Check out the CNN video clip about Ashley and her stunning success. I especially liked the part about where she was too young to drive, but she was able to buy herself a house!
Way to go Ashbo!
Pretty cool eh?
Michelle Malkin
Few people have the courage to press on in the face of heavy (and often abusive) criticism as Michelle Malkin has. Whatever you think of her views and her in your face delivery you have to acknowledge her position in the blogosphere as one of the most widely read bloggers online today. She’s developed quite the following!
Michelle has two hot blogs: MichelleMalkin.com and HotAir.com, a wildly popular videoblog.
Here’s a headline and article that fairly represents what you’ll get from this Gurrl: “NBC: Nothing But Communism”
Now I’ve been watching the Olympics and it’s obvious that NBC is trying to keep China-bashing to a minimum and I don’t have a big problem with that. The time to wage political warfare and protest was back when the IOC was deciding on where the 2008 Olympics would be held, not now. Let the athletes run, jump, swim and ride. There’s plenty of time later to bash China when bashing is in order.
At any rate, Michelle has put together an impressive online empire. She definitely qualifies as one of the top political GURRLs.

Hot For Words by Marina

Marina Orlova is a philologist (one who studies linguistics and etymology). She really enjoys discussing the origins of words and their meaning.
Apparently she’s not the only one that enjoys the discussing the meaning and origin of words. Marina’s
videos on YouTube at YouTube-hotforwords are insanely popular and have been viewed 94,000,000 times and counting. Even Bill O’Reilly tried to jump on this GURRLS bandwagon by having Marina on his show to talk about words! More about that and other Hot For Words press here.
Like any respectable Gurrl, Marina is peeling off YouTube users to her own Website so she can better monetize her God-given talent and her talent as a philologist earned via hard work and study. She is after all an online celebrity turned phenomena. Check it out here: Hot For Words
In her latest video Marina discusses how the term “peanut gallery came to be used as we know it. It’s great. If , like me, you’ve been a frequent member of the peanut gallery at events during your life then you’ll appreciate the limelight that rarely shines on those in the “nosebleed” seats.
I’d love to hear what you think of Marina!
